20 Ways to Use a Kinderfeets Kinderboard

We asked Kristen from @playfully_raising_h to provide her thoughts on our Kinderfeets Kinderboard and this is what she had to say:

There’s something beautiful about the simplicity of a piece of curved wood and the unlimited potential it presents for imaginative, open-ended play. Whilst the design is simple the opportunities for creative play, gross motor exploration and problem solving are limitless.

We explored some of the ways that your little ones can use their Kinderfeets Kinderboard at home:

1. Balancing and rocking - learning to navigate the rocking motion of a balance board is a lot of fun for little ones at all different ages and stages.

2. Climbing - when placed upside down, the Kinderfeets Kinderboard becomes a great structure to climb onto, over and under.

3. Sliding - going down the other side is fun too!

4. Creating a ball maze - if you’ve got a rainbow stacker you can add the curved blocks together to create a run or a maze for a small ball to roll through.

5. Rowing a boat - we like to sing ‘row, row, row your boat’ and our renditions are usually accompanied by squeals of delight!

6. Testing cause and effect - your little scientist can conduct their own experiment, drop a ball onto the curved side to see it roll away and come back again.

7. Finding some quiet time - the Kinderfeets Kinderboard can be a great place to rest those tiny feet. Just add a soft cushion, a blanket and your little one’s favourite book.

8. Putting a favourite doll to sleep - because dolly needs quiet time too!

9. Building a fort - every great fortress deserves a curved door.

10. Running a successful pretend coffee shop/market stand/concierge desk – nothing is more adorable than your tiny entrepreneur showing you how it’s done! “Next waiting please”.

11. Practicing some yoga moves - this one is great for the adults too!

12. Enjoying some snacks - we’ll often use our Kinderfeets Kinderboard as a tiny table for quick snack sessions.

13. Stacking some blocks - use the Kinderboard to add real height to those marvellous tower constructions and toy stacks.

14. Learning about ‘under’, ‘over’ and ‘around’- this is a great gross motor game that can introduce spatial concepts! Call out ‘under’, ‘over’ and ‘around’ as your little one follows a ball or small toy.

15. Exploring maximum effort - around the age of 18 months children begin to seek opportunities to exert maximum effort. Pushing, pulling, carrying and rotating a Kinderboard is a great way for toddlers to explore this area of interest. Our little one is currently in the midst of this stage and she’ll often drag her Kinderboard all over the house with her.

16. Stepping up - turned upside down, the Kinderfeets Kinderboard can be used as a small platform or step.

17. Exploring the sound objects make as they are dropped onto them. The wood provides plenty of opportunities for interesting sounds!

18. Racing under and over a bridge - driving cars over and under the curved Kinderboard is lots of fun for transport loving toddlers and pre-schoolers.

19. Building small worlds - combined with small world toys, the Kinderfeets Kinderboard could be a mountain, a river, a tunnel, a cave or even a glacier.

20. Putting on a puppet show - we love puppetry play in our home. The Kinderfeets Kinderboard makes a great minimalist finger puppet theatre.

Designed to kindle both physical and mental development for toddlers, kids, teens and adults, this Steiner/Waldorf inspired, natural piece of play equipment is as versatile as it is practical. It’s simple design is cleverly deceptive, as it can hold a weight up to 220 kilos and although robust, it is produced sustainably and without any nasty glues or toxic lacquers. The Kinderfeets Kinderboards are eco-bliss for eco-minded parents and educators.

Suitable for ages 18 months to adults up to 220 Kilos.
